Leslie A. Skurla, DMD


Dr. Skurla was born and raised in Whippany, attending the public schools and graduating from Hanover Park High School in 1968. She graduated from Westbrook College and practiced dental hygiene in Denville before starting dental school in 1976. She received her doctorate of dental medicine degree from New Jersey Dental School in 1979 and opened her private dental practice on Route 10 in Whippany in 1981. Moving to her current location on Troy Hills Road in 1995,  Dr. Skurla has always centered her dental practice around her "family" of patients. She and her associate Dr. Jill Schwartz perform every procedure themselves personally. The practice welcomes patients of all ages and with all types of dental needs. Dr. Skurla has a very special affinity for special needs patients as her adult middle son, Benjamin has Down Syndrome.

Dr. Skurla has been active in organized dentistry and served as the President of the Tri-County Dental Association from 1987-1988, Secretary of The New Jersey Dental Association from 1987-1988 and was selected as a founding member of the American Dental Association Committee of New Dentists in 1988. She was previously associated with St. Clare’s Hospital Dental Department. She has been involved with the ARC of Essex County and serves on the Board of Our House, an organization that provides community homes, employment and social programs for people with developmental disabilities.

Dr. Skurla has three adult sons, Maximilian, Benjamin and Harrison and lives in Mendham Township. An avid golfer, gardener and fan of the New York Jets, she enjoys cooking, entertaining and spending time in Hilton Head, South Carolina.


Jill Schwartz, DMD


Dr. Jill Schwartz graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1999 with an undergraduate degree in Biology. She received her doctorate of dental medicine in 2003 from the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Schwartz was the recipient of numerous clinical and academic awards during her time in dental school. She was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (the National Dental Honor Society), made Dean’s List all four years, and received the prestigious Stanley S. Bergen Jr., MD Medal of Excellence at graduation. Upon finishing dental school, Dr. Schwartz chose to further her education by completing a one-year general practice residency at Morristown Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Schwartz maintains memberships in numerous professional organizations, including the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Dental Association. Additionally, she routinely attends continuing education seminars to stay abreast of the latest techniques and scientific developments within the field.

In her spare time, Dr. Schwartz enjoys reading, baking, traveling, and exercising. In fact, she recently received her certification as a Barre3 fitness instructor. Most of all, Dr. Schwartz enjoys spending time with her husband Eric, 6-year old twins Gracie and Henry, and her toy poodle Blondie.
